We are located in Cape May, New Jersey. You will want to consider that you will be responsible for all travel arrangements to get your puppy home. If you live close, this won't be an issue. But, if you live far away, you will need to think this through carefully.
WE OFFER DELIVERY!
We occasionally offer door to door delivery for our puppies only. Unfortunately, this service is not always available (usually just October thru April). Prices are based on distance and can vary. Check out our Inky Dink Puppy Delivery Facebook page for prices: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063456735137 (All prices are subject to change depending on gas prices and the number of puppies being delivered.) Remember, our starting and ending point is Cape May, New Jersey.
Unlike commercial transporters, who pick up dogs and puppies continuously, we only have our own puppies on board, so we know your puppy will not be exposed to disease from another animal during the trip. We also have invested in a specially designed, air conditioned transportation vehicle, to make sure your puppy is safe and comfortable. If any of the puppies seem lonely or anxious during the trip, we will keep them up front with us until they settle down.
We think our prices are very competitive, but if you think our delivery prices are a little higher than the commercial transporters, realize it's worth it when you consider that extra level of care and comfort your puppy will get from us. We have a vested interest in making sure your puppy arrives safe and healthy. Its our entire reputation on the line and we take that very seriously.
COMMERCIAL TRANSPORTERS: Most commercial long distance transport available involves the puppy staying crated for the whole trip. It's just is safer for a young puppy not to be taken in and out of the vehicle in a strange place. However, you must be aware that there is always a level of risk to your puppy in commercial transport, especially a risk of exposure to germs from other animals the carrier may have transported before - even some that can be life threatening, such as the highly contagious "parvovirus ". PLEASE CHECK REFERENCES.
TRAVELING BY AIR: If you will be flying your puppy home, make sure you choose an airline with climate controlled, pet appropriate cargo areas and pet friendly travel policies. Your puppy will be small, so you may be able to find an airline willing to let you bring your puppy in the cabin with you. If you travel this way, remember to bring supplies with you on the plane in case your new baby gets sick or has an accident. We are nearest to Atlantic City International (ACY) and Philadelphia International (PHL) airports. To take your puppy to the airport for you and hand them over to the airline's transport services people, or to you if you fly in to pick up your puppy, we charge $150 for ACY and $250 for PHL, plus NJ Sales Tax. There is also a small airport right in Cape May, if you happen to know someone with a private plane.
PERSONAL PICK-UP: Of course you could always just come yourself to pickup your new furbaby and take him or her home. In fact, we encourage this. Think of it as your first big adventure together. If you choose to take this on, there are a few things you should know. Doggies get carsick just like people do, and remember your puppy will not be trained, so you will want to plan for many stops along the way. Commercial carriers avoid this by using special crates that allow for puppies to be messy on the ride. It is super important that you remember your puppy won't be fully vaccinated when you are taking him/her home, so you must be very VERY careful not to take them into areas where they could catch something left behind by another dog. We really can't stress this enough.
Your puppy must have a crate to travel home in, and you will need to purchase this and deliver it to us in advance if you are using one of the commercial shipping options. Which kind of crate to get is a personal decision, based on how the puppy will be traveling, but under no circumstances should you plan on winging it without a crate.
If you are coming to pick up your puppy, and you plan to travel home by car, you may select a canvas travel crate or something simple that you can use later for vet visits and short trips. Floppy cases are less comfortable for the dog, and harder to clean up if there's an accident, so keep that in mind if your trip will be long.
If you are going with a commercial transporter, we suggest you check with them to see what they would require for the trip. Perhaps it is something that will allow easy clean up, or will be equipped with removable food and water trays to keep everything nice and neat, and make feeding and watering your pup easy and fast.
If you are planning to travel by air, you MUST follow the airline's instructions for your puppy's travel crate. Your puppy will not be allowed on the plane if you do not get the right crate.
